NoteThe School Readiness Assessment should not be considered an entrance test or examination. No child shall be refused entry to Grade 1 neither on the basis of SReA results nor due to lack of preschool experience.
Project Objectives

  1. Assess pupils' readiness along the different developmental domains (gross and fine motor, receptive/expressive language, cognitive domain and socio-emotional domain);
  2. Determine the beginning level competencies of Grade 1 pupils both as individuals and as a group of learners;
  3. Through analysis of results, determine appropriate interventions for addressing specific needs of the pupils;
  4. By sharing the assessment results with them, enable parents to determine appropriate home-based activities for their children's supplemental learning.
  5. To continuously determine the school readiness of all incoming Grade 1 pupils, SReA was administered in SY 2005-06 and every succeeding school year thereafter. Two assessments are done every year (per DepED Order No, 13, s. 2000), the first or the pre-assessment during the month of May, and the second or post-assessment towards the end of the first quarter or the start of the 2nd quarter of the school year, after the conduct of the 8-week ECD curriculum.
